Reason to Believe

The Studio/E Community has more than 500 successful members from all sectors. Some of the organizations include Target, Allina Health, the FBI, Cargill, Babson College, University of St. Thomas, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Vistage and many others.

As a leader, I know it’s easier to lead when it’s sunny outside, when there’s not stormy seas. But more often than not that’s not the way life is, that’s not the way leadership is. How do we lead when it’s stormy out? One of the things I’ve learned in Studio/E is how to lead when things aren’t smooth sailing, when it’s gray, not black and white.

Aside from making fantastic connections with very inspirational people, Studio/E gave me a chance to take time to think about what I want to accomplish, how I’m going to do it, and different paths to use that that wouldn’t necessarily be natural to me. Anytime you get a bunch of smart people in a room – anytime you’re able to get information from smart people – it’s an incredible combination.

Studio/E has done a great job of teaching me to listen to other people better and enroll myself in learning more about them. Studio/E has changed the way in which I work with my team members and speak to them in ways that encourage the promotion of ideas and the creation of ideas.

I would recommend Studio/E, but I would first ask, “Are you ready to make a big difference in the place you are at today, professionally, but also are you ready to make a different in this community?” If you’re a lean in person and you want to do that and you want to do that in a different, tangible, measurable way, in a way that’s going to have positive impact, then I think you’re ready for Studio/E.

Mark Addicks, Former CMO at General Mills

Studio/E completely changes the way you’re approaching your work. It gives you a new set of tools for dealing with future projects and potentialities, but it also challenges you in the moment to rethink how you are approaching the stuff you’re dealing with now, right here on the ground.

For me the biggest value that I’ve gained from Studio/E was really realizing that I may have more in common with people. There are some folks in my cohort that I frankly would not have thought of as colleagues or friends simply because we have very different ideologies or political persuasions. Going through this exercise in Studio/E, I have found we have so much more in common and that commonality gives us a great place to build and problem solve from.
