At Studio/E we’ve adopted something called the Blue Ocean Strategy – a grid developed by W. Chan Kim and Renée Mauborgne that helps you identify what you or your company could eliminate, reduce, raise, and create.
We love this tool because it makes us focus on making changes and improving our business. When using the tool, think about:
Eliminate: What no longer serves you / your business?
Reduce: What still serves you / your business but could be reduced?
Raise: What could you do more of that will benefit you / your business?
Create: What could be created to benefit you / your business? (i.e. processes, guidelines, etc.).
Extra Credit: Give it a go yourself. Draw a box, separate it into four quadrants, and title one of them Eliminate, one Reduce, one Raise, and one Create. Next, think through what you could do in each category to create a more prosperous future.
