Thanks, Moms

The Studio/E team is blessed with remarkable mothers. While entirely different from one another, each of our mothers have instilled within us the desire to do good, the drive for continuous growth, and the insatiable thirst for exploration. We wouldn’t be who we are (and Studio/E wouldn’t be what it is) today without their guidance, love, and support.

To celebrate Mother’s Day, we each wrote a note to the special moms in our lives:

Note to Andy’s mother

I wake up every day thankful for the son you raised. I wouldn’t be the person I am without you and your guidance. Your decisions – whether I thought them good or bad – helped mold me into the person I’ve become. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve grown to appreciate the humor, positivity, and warmth you bring to your own life and others’ lives. I’m lucky to call you my mom!

Note to Kolina’s mother

Having recently become a mother myself, my appreciation for you has reached astronomic heights. You’ve never let on how difficult mothering is — not even when going through the most difficult of times. The reasons I admire you are many, but one stands out to me: your refusal to speak ill of anybody. Your positivity is unparalleled and its influence on my own life is evident. The world would be a better place if everyone lived their lives the way you do. I love you with my whole heart, just the way you raised me.

Note to Lauren’s mother

I want to thank you for being the strong, gentle, selfless, and resilient woman you are. Thank you for not only being my best friend but being one of the greatest role models a daughter, and a human being, could ask for. Thank you for setting the example for what it means to be truly and genuinely beautiful on the inside and out. I love you!

Note to Lori’s mother

I have watched you through my own unique lens over these last 60 years. As a mother of the 50s I always remember you tucked neatly in the background of our lives, never calling much attention to yourself but knowing you were the cog that kept everything in motion. As we walked through the loss of dad this year, I can say I have never been prouder to see you find your voice and realize that you too, have something to contribute to the conversation. You are stronger than I ever imagined, and I hope that God continues to grant you good health so you can continue to enjoy discovering all the unknown magical mysteries of YOU! I love you Mom.

Note to Nate’s mother

You have an uncommon name, Audra, and it suits you well. You have an unusually energetic intellect and are a woman of strong opinions. I’ve seen you hold those opinions at times when it would be more convenient to stay silent. I respect you enormously for that. I have inherited the same civic-minded thread from you that you inherited from your grandparents and parents, and it has become a grounding part of my life. I’m grateful for that lineage. Like so many of your generation, you dropped out of college in order to help dad continue his educational journey, but that didn’t stop you. I’m proud of the fact that you went back to get two college degrees and even graduated with one of those degrees on the same day I graduated. Whenever I say goodbye, I always say “I love you.” And you always tell me you love me more. I’m not sure if that’s true but I’ll let you have your way. You are a woman of strong opinion after all!

Note to Stiles’ mother and wife

To my mom – Words can’t express how grateful I am to have you as my mother. Through thick and thin, you’ve tirelessly put our family’s needs first, always believed in me (even at times when I didn’t), and always challenged me to be at my best in every situation. Your nurturing and loving spirit is something I cherish and look up to so much. I thank you and love you more than you know.

To my wife – Each and every day you amaze me with your grace, love, and courage as a mom. I am so proud to have you in my life and to call you the mother of our children. Thank you for all that you do to make our house a home and for being the best wife and mom our family could ever ask for. I love you so much.

Note to Tawnee’s mother

Thank you for being exactly the mom that you’ve been to me all my life. You have given so much of yourself to make sure that we are supported, loved, and cared for. And all with such grace. I can’t imagine where I would be today without such a strong example of what a woman can be, what she can stand for, and what she deserves in her life. You inspire me, and I love you with my whole heart.

Note to Tom’s mother

Mom, you bring me joy, and you always have.
