Top 10 Business Books We Read in 2016

If you’ve ever sat in a room with the Studio/E team for a little while, you’ve probably picked up on our love for books. One of the best things about books is that they provide great awareness, whether you want to learn about creativity or leadership or stealing like an artist. And with awareness comes the ability to make wise decisions. It is with that mentality that we devour books of all sorts. Studio/E co-founder Tom Wiese is an especially voracious reader, and his book recommendations are requested often. This list was hard for Tom to cut down, but he did it. Here are the 10 books, in no specific order, that Tom read in 2016 and thinks you should read, too:

The Outward Mindset: Seeing Beyond Ourselves | The Arbinger Institute

Together is Better | Simon Sinek

The Art of Possibility: Transforming Professional and Personal Life | Benjamin Zander and Rosamund Stone Zander

Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear | Elizabeth Gilbert

The Warrior Ethos | Steven Pressfield

Designing Your Life: How to Build a Well-Lived, Joyful Life | Bill Burnett

Self Control: Its Kingship and Majesty | William George Jordan

Tools of Titans: The Tactics, Routines, and Habits of Billionaires, Icons, and World-class Performers | Tim Ferris

Another Boring, Derivative, Piece of Crap Business Book | Mike Veeck and Allen Fahden

Steal Like an Artist: 10 Things Nobody Told You about Being Creative

You may have noticed that we linked each of the above books to Twin Cities-based booksellers. That was not by accident! While we, too, are guilty of buying books from Amazon, we are proponents of purchasing from local bookstores. If you are in the Twin Cities area, here is a list of great booksellers:

Magers & Quinn

Common Good Books

Milkweed Books

SubText Books

Paperback Exchange

Midway Used & Rare Books

Moon Palace Books
